At this meeting\, we’ll share designs that reflect the proposed plan to create an accessible\, sustainable\, and intimate space for performers\, campers\, and the community. \nSaturday\, March 28\, 2026 \n1:00 – 4:30pm \nCommunity Room\, Lexington Police Station \n1575 Massachusetts Ave\, Lexington\, MA  \nRSVP (required): \nSign up for in-person attendance (seating is limited) or attend via webinar link. The webinar link will be provided in the Munroe Arts monthly newsletter out later in March. \nEVENT DETAILS:  \nThis Community Conversation has been created to share information about the proposed plans for a summer stage at the Munroe Center for the Arts\, and to engage residents\, neighbors\, and stakeholders in conversation about their ideas and concerns for the proposed space.  \nThe gathering will begin with a brief overview of the Munroe Center for the Arts\, followed by a presentation of project designs that incorporate feedback that has been received to date from the community. In the remaining time\, both in-person and online attendees will be invited to provide input about the project\, guided by a professional facilitator. The facilitator will assemble all the information and provide a public report back to the community. \nThe Summer Stage Project is an extension of more than 30 years of Munroe Arts’ summer camp outdoor Friday performances\, its annual summer Lemonade Social\, and Munroe Center Stage (the monthly performance series that ran from 2010 through 2020). DESCRIPTION:Recent experience has shaken our faith in the solidity of our democratic institutions and in the\nConstitution itself. We’ve discovered that critical pre-conditions for effective self-government have turned out to be weak or missing in action\, and right now our constitutional system can even stand in the way of making necessary changes. \nIn this talk\, Professor Martha Minow will focus on several of the preconditions that stand in jeopardy: education; reliable news; security against lethal violence; and reciprocity—that is\, confidence in our economic and political institutions.

Repositioning the Revolution at the center of an international web\, Bell’s narrative ranges as far afield as India\, Africa\, Central America\, and Australia. As his lens widens\, the “War of Independence” manifests itself as a sprawling struggle that upended the lives of millions of people on every continent and fundamentally transformed the way the world works\, disrupting trade\, restructuring penal systems\, stirring famine\, and creating the first global refugee crisis. She currently leads a risk-taking acoustic jazz quartet that features NYC’s most in-demand sidemen\, and has showcased her music at festivals like the Detroit Jazz Festival.  Produced by Jason Moran\, her second album\, Feed the Fire\, will be released in June 2026 on Endectomorph. \nMarks’ debut album\, Outsider\, Outlier\, is an explosive rendering of her search for belonging and empowerment. A nod to her love for punk\, noise and free improvisation\, Outsider\, Outlier released on Out Of Your Head Records on October 20\, 2023. SUMMARY:Patriots' Day Events — Paul Revere's Ride\, battle reenactments\, parade\, naturalization ceremony and more
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, April 17\n9:00 p.m. – Paul Revere’s Ride Reenactment\, Hancock-Clarke House\, 36 Hancock St.\nIn partnership with Lexington History Museums\, the Lexington Minute Men will bring to life Paul Revere’s historic ride from Boston to the home of Reverend Jonas Clarke in Lexington to alert Patriot leaders John Hancock and Samuel Adams of the impending British raid. \nThe event is free and open to the public. Hancock Street will be closed for the event\, and there will be no parking available on site. Parking at 57 Bedford St. is recommended. \nSaturday\, April 18\n5:15-7:30 a.m. – Reenactment of the Battle of Lexington\nIn the early morning\, the Lexington Minute Men will kick off the historic reenactment of the Battle of Lexington\, including the civilian evacuation\, on the Lexington Battle Green\, beginning with the ringing of the alarm and ending with the British arrival and Parker’s Revenge\, Captain John Parker’s rallying speech to the troops to continue their fight. \n10:30-12 p.m. – Battle of Tower Park\nJust up the street from the Lexington Battle Green at Tower Park\, 1157 Massachusetts Ave.\, the Lexington Minute Men will recreate one of the running battles as the British are forced to retreat back toward Boston. \nThe event will begin with the British troops arriving to Munroe Tavern at 10:30 a.m.\, where they set up a field hospital\, just as they did on April 19\, 1775. At 11:00 a.m.\, Percy’s relief arrives with cannon fire to assist the British in their retreat back to Boston. \nFrom 11:15 a.m. to 12 p.m.\, Captain Parker’s company continues the fight and pushes the British out of Lexington toward Boston. \n1:30-3:30 p.m. – Annual Patriots’ Day Parade\nA wide variety of reenactment groups\, including the Lexington Minute Men\, along with various groups\, marching bands\, and more will walk in the annual Patriots’ Day Parade. \nThe parade will step off at the intersection of Maple and Massachusetts Avenue and will follow through to Lexington Center\, ending at Worthen Road. \nSunday\, April 19\n8 a.m.-5 p.m. – Battle Road\nThe Lexington Minute Men will participate in a day of events at the Old North Bridge in Concord\, including reenactments of the battle of Elm Brook Hill at the Minute Men National Historical Park in Lincoln\, Mass. \nThe day will begin with the North Bridge Immersive Program at 8:30 a.m.\, followed by the reenactment of the Battle of Elm Brook Hill at 11 a.m. The day will finish with the Battle of Parker’s Revenge at 2:30 p.m. at Minute Men National Park. \nMonday\, April 20\n9:30 a.m. – Ye Old Burial Ground Ceremony\nWith the battle reenactments over\, the Lexington Minute Men will fire two musket volleys as two wreaths are laid at the grave of the British Soldier and Captain Parker’s Memorial. \n10 a.m. – Daughters of the American Revolution Wreath-Laying Ceremony\nThe Daughters of the American Revolution will lay wreaths at the Lexington Minute Men monument and the obelisk next to Lexington Battle Green. The obelisk is the oldest war memorial in the nation\, honoring the eight men who died in the Battle of Lexington. \nTuesday\, April 21 – Naturalization Ceremony\n11 a.m. – Naturalization Ceremony\nIn honor of the Shot Heard Around the World on Lexington’s Town Common\, which sparked the Revolutionary War and thus the birth of our Nation\, a group of Americans will be invited to the Town Common and become formally naturalized as American citizens. becoming a part of America’s colorful national tapestry in honor of the country’s 250th anniversary. \nCaptain Commanding Stephen Cole will deliver the ceremony’s opening address\, while the music company will play fife and drum music\, and the Color Guard presents the colors.

DESCRIPTION:In tribute to Armenian Heritage Month\, Belmont World Film is screening the East Coast premiere of IN THE LAND OF ARTO\, as part of its 24th International Film Series. \nThe screening will be followed immediately by a discussion led by Diana Hayrapetyan\, Professor of Armenian at Harvard University and a PhD candidate at the Strassler Center for Holocaust Studies at Clark University. \nThe feature film debut of director Tamara Stepanyan is set in Armenia\, including the region of Nagorno-Karabakh\, the site of the ethnic and territorial conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan\, inhabited mostly by ethnic Armenians until their expulsion in 2023\, and the seven surrounding districts\, inhabited mostly by Azerbaijanis until their expulsion during the 1990s.  The film stars Camille Cottin (Call My Agent\, House of Gucci) as a wife who travels to Armenia to legalize her husband’s death\, only to learn that he lied about his military service\, that he fought in the war\, usurped his identity\, and that his former friends consider him a deserter. \nBelmont World Film’s 24th International Film Series\, “Thicker Than Water\,” runs Mondays at 7:00 PM at the West Newton Cinema through May 18. After a two-week break\, the series continues with the observance of Pride Month on June 1 and World Refugee Awareness Month on June 8 and 15. The films in this year’s series\, which are followed by engaging discussions led by filmmakers and expert speakers\, explore the ties that bind—and sometimes limit—through an intimate and far-reaching collection of stories about families in all their complexity. They span four continents and feature ten different languages\, including Arabic\, Armenian\, Greek\, Darija\, Dutch\, French\, Greek\, Greenlandic\, Quechua\, Spanish\, and Ukrainian—reflecting the many voices and vantage points that shape our shared human story.. All of the selections were official entries at the world’s major film festivals\, with several receiving top honors.
