Journey through Nordic history\, starting with the Vikings and the influences their trade practices had on traditional cooking practices through to the food tradition of the local indigenous people of the north before ending with the modern culinary movement birthed in the early aughts. \n  \nClass Menu: \n\nSimple porridge of savory oats with cheese\, dried fruit\, and meat\nDried salted cod\nBlood In The Snow: skyr (yogurt) with fresh pressed ginger and beetroot juice\nSelection of lactofermented pickled vegetables with butter and light caraway rye bread\nGravlax served on rye bread with mustard sauce\, pickled onion\, and dill\nFinnbiff with potatoes (traditional Sami meat and mushroom dish)\nSwedish cardamom buns\n\n  \nAbout Chef Emily Taylor: \nChef Emily has been dabbling in the food industry ever since a fateful dinner at Ten Tables back in 2007 where she was served a simple Spanish squash soup that was so inspiring she just had to figure out how to make it herself. Since then she has continued to explore cultures and regions through travel and food. After an extended journey through Scandinavia\, the Nordics and northern Europe in 2018\, she became enamoured with the ability of Nordic cuisine to be traditional\, cozy and yet at times deeply sophisticated. Determined to fill the Nordic food gap in the Boston area\, she began holding annual Hyggefest suppers at home for lucky friends\, and most recently held several popular Nordic Cafe popups at local farm-to-table restaurant\, Urban Hearth. DESCRIPTION:Munroe Center for the Arts invites the public to engage in conversation about plans to formalize the existing summer stage in the front lawn of the Arts Center. At this meeting\, we’ll share designs that reflect the proposed plan to create an accessible\, sustainable\, and intimate space for performers\, campers\, and the community. \nSaturday\, March 28\, 2026 \n1:00 – 4:30pm \nCommunity Room\, Lexington Police Station \n1575 Massachusetts Ave\, Lexington\, MA  \nRSVP (required): \nSign up for in-person attendance (seating is limited) or attend via webinar link. The webinar link will be provided in the Munroe Arts monthly newsletter out later in March. \nEVENT DETAILS:  \nThis Community Conversation has been created to share information about the proposed plans for a summer stage at the Munroe Center for the Arts\, and to engage residents\, neighbors\, and stakeholders in conversation about their ideas and concerns for the proposed space.  \nThe gathering will begin with a brief overview of the Munroe Center for the Arts\, followed by a presentation of project designs that incorporate feedback that has been received to date from the community. In the remaining time\, both in-person and online attendees will be invited to provide input about the project\, guided by a professional facilitator. The facilitator will assemble all the information and provide a public report back to the community. \nThe Summer Stage Project is an extension of more than 30 years of Munroe Arts’ summer camp outdoor Friday performances\, its annual summer Lemonade Social\, and Munroe Center Stage (the monthly performance series that ran from 2010 through 2020). DESCRIPTION:Join us for Adulting with Neurodiversity: Navigating Life After 22\, a program designed for individuals\, caregivers\, and families navigating the transition to adulthood.\n\nThis session will focus on what happens when school-based supports end and how to prepare for the next phase of life. A representative from the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and insights from the Association for Autism and Neurodiversity (AANE) will provide an overview of available adult services\, including housing\, employment\, and financial supports. \nThe program will also feature individuals sharing their lived experiences navigating college\, work\, and independent living with neurodiversity. \nParticipants will leave with practical tools\, resources\, and a clearer understanding of how to plan for independence\, employment\, and life after graduation. \n\nThis is the beginning of our series around Adulting with Neurodiversity. SUMMARY:Jazz bassist and composer Hannah Marks performs with Lexington High School Jazz ensembles
DESCRIPTION:Lexington High School is delighted to welcome bassist and composer Hannah Marks for an exciting evening of music on Thursday\, April 16.  Marks will perform with a number of LHS small and large ensembles\, including the award winning Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo. This performance is made possible by FOLMADS\, the Friends of Lexington Music and Drama. \nHannah Marks is a bassist\, composer\, and educator living in New York City. She currently leads a risk-taking acoustic jazz quartet that features NYC’s most in-demand sidemen\, and has showcased her music at festivals like the Detroit Jazz Festival.  Produced by Jason Moran\, her second album\, Feed the Fire\, will be released in June 2026 on Endectomorph. \nMarks’ debut album\, Outsider\, Outlier\, is an explosive rendering of her search for belonging and empowerment. A nod to her love for punk\, noise and free improvisation\, Outsider\, Outlier released on Out Of Your Head Records on October 20\, 2023. Citizen Jazz called Outsider\, Outlier “…a very mature record from a young artist with very strong ideas who does not hold back anything.” \nAs a side-woman\, Marks tours internationally with NEA Jazz Master Dee Dee Bridgewater’s project “We Exist!”\, and has performed with Geoffrey Keezer\, Nasheet Waits\, Terri Lyne Carrington\, Anna Webber\, Miles Okazaki\, Ingrid Jensen\, Kalia Vandever\, Matt Wilson\, Ted Nash\, Morgan Guerin\, Marcus Printup\, and Sasha Berliner. Marks’ discography includes appearances on Geoffrey Keezer’s Grammy award winning composition Refuge\, Amanda Ekery’s Grammy nominated Arabé\, Kristen Lee Sergeant’s Falling with saxophonist Ted Nash\, and Heartland Trio’s debut album Year One. \nMarks is passionate about jazz education\, serving on faculty at Fordham University during the academic year\, and at Interlochen Arts Camp\, Stanford Jazz Workshop\, and Jazz Camp West.  \nThe performance will be at the LHS Gillespie Auditorium at 7pm.  Tickets are $15\, $5 for students\, with a maximum family cost of $40.   \n
