Stop by any of multiple locations to see the many forms a pollinator garden can take\, or learn what alternatives to the traditional lawn fellow residents have tried. \nThe homeowners involved are generously opening their yards to visitors in the hopes that you’ll see something that will help or inspire you in your own landscaping\, and to learn from you as well. Twelve gardeners are participating\, and each property will be open to visitors during a two- or three-hour window. Visit as many or as few as you wish. SUMMARY:Reframe: Sculpture at the Old Schwamb Mill
DESCRIPTION:ReFrame brings together the work of Adria Arch\, Olivia Baldwin\, Tory Fair\, Anna Kristina Göransson\, and Kate Holcomb Hale\, five artists with deep ties to Arlington whose practices share a restless relationship with sculptural convention. Shown in the Mill’s historic upper rooms\, close to the spaces where frames were crafted by hand\, the work spills across walls and floors\, refusing the categories that would hold it still.\nEach artist will display large-scale pieces alongside smaller works for sale\, with proceeds supporting The Old Schwamb Mill. \nThe exhibition runs September 12 – November 14\, 2026\, with an opening reception on Saturday\, September 26\, 2–3:30 pm\, a panel discussion on Saturday\, October 24\, 2–3 pm\, and a closing reception on Saturday\, November 14. \nThe historic Old Schwamb Mill in Arlington\, Massachusetts\, has been making frames since 1864. Its oval frames\, among the finest ever produced in America\, once defined the boundaries of painted worlds. This fall\, five sculptors arrive at this storied building to ask what happens when the frame gives way. \nAnna Kristina Göransson’s Seeping Memories speaks to the way memories work their way into our lives\, growing\, changing\, branching into every corner of experience. The oval frame nods to the Mill’s own manufacturing legacy and to the framed family photographs that hang in homes everywhere. \nThe sunflowers in Tory Fair’s Rage Flowers were harvested from community gardens. They are cast in silicone mixed with dirt\, the fragile beauty of a bloom transformed into something with both glamour and grit. \nOlivia Baldwin makes abstract\, two- and three-dimensional work propelled by color and movement\, built from leather\, clay\, wire\, and found and inherited materials. \nAdria Arch’s work recalls the framing specialty of The Old Schwamb Mill\, using the circle and oval as a recurring reference point. Radiating spokes\, dangling parts\, and clashing color pull the form off the wall and into motion. \nKate Holcomb Hale’s interdisciplinary practice uses sculpture\, painting\, and craft to call attention to objects and architecture that perform care\, collapsing ladders\, knotted handrails\, resting columns. Conceived after losing her mother\, father\, and brother in close succession\, this work considers who carries the weight when systems of care fail.

Suicide prevention isn’t just about responding to those who are struggling or who we’re concerned about. It’s about empowering entire communities to know how to help someone at risk and providing them with the tools to recognize warning signs and take action. \nDeveloped by the creators of SOS Signs of Suicide\, a trusted evidence-based suicide prevention program\, Suicide Prevention for Communities is a facilitator-led training that uses video and interactive discussions to help adults build the confidence and skills to talk openly and effectively about suicide. \nThis adult training is designed to engage diverse audiences and is applicable across a range of personal and professional roles. The content emphasizes that anyone can play a role in supporting someone who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts. It also highlights the effectiveness of restricting access to lethal means and provides information on local and national mental health resources. \nKey Learnings:\n• A general understanding of suicide and why safe language is important\n• How to recognize warning signs and risk factors for suicide\n• How to use the ACT (Acknowledge\, Care\, Tell) framework when someone is struggling with thoughts of suicide\n• Ways to keep a person safe while connecting them to qualified resources

DESCRIPTION:Harmony on the Green Coffeehouse Concerts is thrilled to kick off its 5th season with the terrific Ari Hest. Hest has crafted a unique path in music – independently building a loyal following through relentless college touring\, then on to major label albums\, and then reimagining listener engagement through fan-driven projects like “52” and his Patreon-powered “The Treehouse Project”. \nA Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter (Best Folk Album\, 2017) who began his career two decades ago\, he’s performed both in the U.S. and abroad with artists like The Indigo Girls\, Martin Sexton\, Judy Collins. and Suzanne Vega. Many of Ari’s songs have appeared on TV and film – The Path\, The Lincoln Lawyer\, Private Practice\, Army Wives\, and One Tree Hill\, to name a few. \nAri’s newest endeavor\, The Treehouse Project\, has him writing\, recording\, and releasing a song on his Patreon every two weeks since early 2022. Based on the votes of his subscribers\, he remixes the 10 favorite songs from each year and releases an album. DESCRIPTION:RMD MA was established in 2020 as the Massachusetts branch of Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko — a creative Eisa group founded in 1982 in Okinawa\, Japan. Our name translates to Ryukyu Kingdom Festival Drums. Eisa is a dynamic form of folk dance from the Okinawan Islands\, once known as the Ryukyu Kingdom. Our performers dance while drumming to a lively mixture of traditional and contemporary Okinawan music\, sharing what we call “Kokoro Spirit” with audiences across New England and beyond. For DEN\, we are inviting members from around the world to join us in celebrating our 6th anniversary\, bridging languages and cultures to dance together on stage.

DESCRIPTION:Po-Shen Loh – October 24\, 2026\, 8 p.m. \n \nIn a world where artificial intelligence can now complete many of the tasks once used to measure academic achievement\, Carnegie Mellon University professor\, social entrepreneur\, and educational innovator Po-Shen Loh invites families\, educators\, students\, and community leaders to consider a powerful question: What skills will matter most for the next generation? \nDrawing from his experiences speaking with families and educators in more than 100 cities each year\, teaching in classrooms\, and learning directly from students\, parents\, teachers\, and AI innovators\, Loh offers a hopeful vision for preparing young people not only to adapt to change\, but also to lead with purpose. Rather than focusing only on grades\, test scores\, or memorization\, Loh makes the case for nurturing the deeply human qualities technology cannot replace: critical thinking\, creativity\, communication\, courage\, leadership\, curiosity\, and the ability to solve unfamiliar problems. SUMMARY:After I'm Gone: In-Person Workshops
DESCRIPTION:We invite you as a resident or whose loved one is a resident of Lexington to attend a 4-Session workshop series to support you in planning for the future. This workshop series is focused on older caregivers who have adult family members with intellectual and developmental disabilities\, including autism. Employees of the town are also welcome to apply. \nThe workshop covers: \n\nOverview of future planning\nImportance of acting so your loved one\, you and others are prepared for future realities\nKeeping the adult with the disability in the center and advancing his/her decision-making role\nSteps to help you identify and support your successor(s) as the coach or caregiver\nEstablishing a support network\nReviewing the future planning guide\nBasic overview of residential options and other services\n\n  \nThe series will be held on Tuesday\, October 20th and 27th\, and November 3rd and 10th from 4:30 to 6pm.   Registration is first-come\, first-served and will be capped at 25 individuals. DESCRIPTION:Reggie Harris makes a return visit to Harmony on the Green! Reggie appeared in our very first show\, along with Alastair Moock. We’re thrilled to bring him back for a solo show in this\, our 5th season. \nReggie Harris is a singer-songwriter\, storyteller\, and world-renowned song-leader who is a powerful interpreter of the global music narrative. A passionate\, engaging\, inspirational entertainer and concert artist\, Reggie is recognized for focusing new energy on the important role of music in the discourse for inclusion and the struggle for human rights\, using the lessons of history as a base. As an expert on the music of the Underground Railroad and the Modern Civil Rights Movement\, he is at home on stage as performer\, lecturer\, or leading discussion in seminars or in the classroom. Known for over 40 years as one-half of the eminently prominent duo\, Kim & Reggie Harris\, Reggie continues to criss-cross the country\, carrying the message of joy\, unity\, tolerance\, and peace through the powerful medium of live music. Reggie remains in high demand for concerts\, schools\, University residencies\, community-building\, festivals\, and teaching workshops.
