Tension mounted\, a shot rang out\, and the British Regulars opened fire. When the smoke cleared\, eight American patriots lay dead\, 10 were wounded\, and the Revolutionary War had begun. \nThe passionate and committed groups of reenactors muster around 5 a.m.\, the bell in the Belfry rings\, and the Battle commences at 5:15 a.m. Attendees should arrive early! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n11 am:  Lex250 Rededication of the Battle Green and Army250 Patriotic Performance\, featuring the Golden Knights Parachute Team\nAfter the 250th Battle of Lexington Anniversary Reenactment\, the morning will pivot to an exciting and never-before-seen patriotic performance and demonstration by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington\, in a stunning audio/visual event meant to pay homage to America’s fight for liberty from 1775 to the present day. \nThe event will begin at 11 a.m. with the rededication of the Lexington Battle Green\, beginning with a speaking program featuring the Lex250 Commission\, state and federal government leaders\, and U.S. Army Major Gen. This narrated event will feature a rededication of Army Combat Streamer #1\, symbolizing America’s first combat engagement and the first shots fired in the American Revolution on April 19\, 1775. \nThis will be followed by a performance by the U.S. Army Fife & Drum Corps and demonstrations by the U.S. Army Drill Team and the Commander-in-Chief’s Guard\, a highly trained and skilled Special Ceremonial Unit\, which harkens back to the Continental Army unit that personally protected Gen. SUMMARY:Continue the Revolution Dedication
DESCRIPTION:“Continue the Revolution” Brings New Vision to Celebrate the Core Values of Democracy \nOn April 13\, 2025\, First Parish in Lexington\, Unitarian Universalist\, will dedicate a new Continue the Revolution display on its 3 Harrington Road property adjacent to the Battle Green in Lexington\, MA. The dedication is open to the public and will be held on Sunday\, April 13\, 2025\, at 3 Harrington Road\, Lexington\, at noon (if it rains\, the dedication will be held in the First Parish sanctuary). Featured speakers from First Parish and other Lexington community groups will share their views on how to Continue the Revolution. Parking will be available behind First Parish. \nIn celebration of the American Revolution\, which began on the Battle Green 250 years ago\, a temporary display of seven signs will invite visitors to consider how they can Continue the Revolution. The first sign will welcome visitors into this historic space to reflect on the contemporary values displayed at six stations –Interdependence\, Equity\, Transformation\, Pluralism\, Generosity\, and Justice. \nEstablished in 1692\, First Parish brought its religious and spiritual values to the 1775 struggle for independence that began on the Lexington Green. Today its love-centered values ask us to remember what remains unfinished. At the time of the Battle of Lexington\, indigenous people and women had no rights. Some of the men who fought that day\, as well as others in Lexington\, enslaved African Americans\, and no one considered rights such as accessibility\, inclusion\, and protection from climate change. Continue the Revolution encourages visitors to consider how love-based values can keep the revolutionary spirit alive for generations to come.

SUMMARY:Asian American Artist Christina Chang Featured at Galaray House in April 2025
DESCRIPTION:Asian American Artist Christina Chang Featured at Galaray House in April 2025   \nGalaray House is proud to present Christina Chang as its featured artist for April 2025. A celebrated Asian American artist\, Chang is known for her bold\, colorful abstract paintings and landscapes that immerse viewers in dynamic energy and movement.   \nA special Artist Reception will take place on First Friday\, April 4\, 2025\, from 6:00–8:00 pm at Galaray House. This event offers a unique opportunity to meet the artist\, explore her latest collection\, and gain insight into her creative process.   \nChristina Chang: The Art of Light and Motion \nChang’s work spans oil paintings\, reflecting her deep connection to color\, texture\, and expression. As a Boston-based Chinese-Italian American artist\, Chang is celebrated for her contemporary oil paintings that transcend traditional artistic boundaries. Her art draws inspiration from personal experiences and cultural influences\, creating immersive and evocative works that explore the interplay of saturated colors\, light\, and emotion. Through her striking landscapes and abstract pieces\, she invites viewers to experience the dynamic energy and depth of her work.   \nThe exhibition will be on view throughout April. For more details\, visit Galaray House.  \nAbout the Artist \nChristina Chang’s art is deeply rooted in her multicultural heritage\, world travels\, and life experiences. Her father\, an architect from Shanghai\, instilled in her an appreciation for spatial design\, while her Italian-American mother\, an interior designer and artist\, shaped her understanding of form and detail.   \nReceiving formal art training at age 13\, Chang went on to earn a BFA from Texas Christian University\, where she was awarded the Nordon Fine Art Scholarship\, and later completed a master’s degree at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). A formative period of study in Florence\, Italy\, further influenced her creative journey.   \nChang creates bold\, colorful paintings that explore energy\, movement\, and emotion\, bridging the gap between abstraction and landscape. Her work invites viewers into immersive spaces of color and form\, drawing inspiration from both personal experiences and the natural world.   \nIn addition to her studio practice\, Chang is a dedicated art educator\, inspiring high school students and leading weekend workshops and artist retreats to empower others to explore their artistic voice. She also offers private lessons and coaching\, helping fellow artists develop their skills and creative careers.

SUMMARY:Contradictions of Freedom – Quilt Exhibit – Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Sisters in Stitches Joined by the Cloth are a guild of textile artists\, dedicated to preserving the art\, history\, and culture of African American quilt-making. Contradictions of Freedom is an exhibition of their work\, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution. \nSisters in Stitches Joined by the Cloth celebrate culture\, color\, design\, and tradition which was formally established in 1997. The Guild meets every third Saturday of each month to sew\, share ideas and techniques\, and celebrate our love of quilting. Our first meeting took place at the Old Town Hall in Randolph\, Massachusetts before moving to the Quilters Compass in Quincy and then at the First Congregational Church in Randolph.
