The event was so well received it was decided to make it an annual event with different houses of worship hosting the Festival each year. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRip Jackson \nMinister of Music\nFirst Parish in Lexington\n7 Harrington Rd.\nLexington\, MA 02421\n781-862-8200 ext 4

SUMMARY:Asian American Artist Christina Chang Featured at Galaray House in April 2025
DESCRIPTION:Asian American Artist Christina Chang Featured at Galaray House in April 2025   \nGalaray House is proud to present Christina Chang as its featured artist for April 2025. A celebrated Asian American artist\, Chang is known for her bold\, colorful abstract paintings and landscapes that immerse viewers in dynamic energy and movement.   \nA special Artist Reception will take place on First Friday\, April 4\, 2025\, from 6:00–8:00 pm at Galaray House. This event offers a unique opportunity to meet the artist\, explore her latest collection\, and gain insight into her creative process.   \nChristina Chang: The Art of Light and Motion \nChang’s work spans oil paintings\, reflecting her deep connection to color\, texture\, and expression. As a Boston-based Chinese-Italian American artist\, Chang is celebrated for her contemporary oil paintings that transcend traditional artistic boundaries. Her art draws inspiration from personal experiences and cultural influences\, creating immersive and evocative works that explore the interplay of saturated colors\, light\, and emotion. Through her striking landscapes and abstract pieces\, she invites viewers to experience the dynamic energy and depth of her work.   \nThe exhibition will be on view throughout April. For more details\, visit Galaray House.  \nAbout the Artist \nChristina Chang’s art is deeply rooted in her multicultural heritage\, world travels\, and life experiences. Her father\, an architect from Shanghai\, instilled in her an appreciation for spatial design\, while her Italian-American mother\, an interior designer and artist\, shaped her understanding of form and detail.   \nReceiving formal art training at age 13\, Chang went on to earn a BFA from Texas Christian University\, where she was awarded the Nordon Fine Art Scholarship\, and later completed a master’s degree at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). A formative period of study in Florence\, Italy\, further influenced her creative journey.   \nChang creates bold\, colorful paintings that explore energy\, movement\, and emotion\, bridging the gap between abstraction and landscape. Her work invites viewers into immersive spaces of color and form\, drawing inspiration from both personal experiences and the natural world.   \nIn addition to her studio practice\, Chang is a dedicated art educator\, inspiring high school students and leading weekend workshops and artist retreats to empower others to explore their artistic voice. She also offers private lessons and coaching\, helping fellow artists develop their skills and creative careers.

SUMMARY:From Wasteland to Wonder – Easy Ways We Can Care for Trees and Help Heal Earth in the Sub/Urban Landscape with Basil Camu
DESCRIPTION:The way we currently manage the suburban and urban landscape is creating a wasteland and harming the well-being of Earth. Fortunately\, we have an alternative path: we can work with natural systems instead of working against them. Basil will describe actions we can take\, from planting saplings and saving mature trees to planting pocket forests\, replacing our lawns with native meadows\, and empowering communities to take action together. \nBasil Camu pursues his purpose and passions as the co-founder of Leaf & Limb\, a tree care company in Raleigh\, NC. His work has been featured in the New York Times\, Seattle Times\, Forbes\, Gardenista\, The Joe Gardener Show\, and a number of other publications and podcasts.

SUMMARY:Book Chat on Poor Richard's Women
DESCRIPTION: Behind any founding father are numerous founding mothers\, sisters\, and lovers. Benjamin Franklin had a large cast of women in his life\, most importantly his wife of 44 years\, Deborah Read Franklin. While frequently absent from the historical narrative due to their frequent time apart\, Deborah was an important witness to and active participant in the political workings of the early Revolution\, running the family businesses and raising a family in tumultuous times with her husband often away. Then\, as Franklin traveled the globe\, his social circle also expanded to include landladies and liaisons in London and Paris. Join us to discuss Nancy Rubin Stuart’s exploration of history’s forgotten heroines.\n\n$10 members\, $15 nonmembers\n\nPlease note that due to construction at the Depot\, Book Chats for the 2024-25 season will take place in the archives and Research Center at Munroe Tavern.
