Attendees can look forward to 21 multicultural performances\, featuring over 200 performers representing communities from around the world — including American\, Spanish\, Eastern European (Mladost)\, Chinese\, Taiwanese\, Sri Lankan\, Indian\, and more. Two live bands will add to the festive atmosphere\, with musical influences spanning continents. \nFood lovers will enjoy a diverse selection of seven multicultural cuisines\, along with refreshing ice cream treats — making it a true culinary journey. The event will also feature community booths and local vendors\, offering a chance to connect\, explore\, and support local initiatives. \nFamilies and children will find plenty to enjoy throughout the afternoon. From bouncy houses and outdoor games to henna art and face painting\, the festival is designed to be engaging and welcoming for all ages. DESCRIPTION:A stunning afternoon of music by dozens of musicians and three area ensembles is on offer for Sunday\, June 7\, 2026\, at 3:00 p.m. at Hancock Church in Lexington. This Is My Song: A Memorial Concert for Martins Aldins will celebrate the musical life and legacy of the longtime area musician who presented dozens of concerts for more than 25 years in Lexington and beyond. The concert is free and open to all. \nThe concert will feature three of the ensembles Martins “Marty” Aldins sang in or led– A Joyful Noyse Early Music Ensemble\, the professional Labyrinth Choir\, and the Hancock Chancel Choir. In addition\, traditional Latvian folk tunes arranged by Marty will be performed by traditional Latvian musicians\, as well as chamber music by some of Marty’s musical collaborators. The program will feature works by Bach\, Mendelssohn\, Biber\, Arvo Pärt\, Morten Lauridsen\, and much more. The concert will range through much of the wide range of music that Marty enjoyed and participated in making:  choral music\, early music\, chamber music\, traditional Latvian music\, and more.  \n“Marty was a key component of our music program for over 25 years\,” says Mark Morgan\, Director of Music at the church\, “his love of music\, his voice\, and his gentle spirit are sorely missed and we welcome this opportunity to celebrate his long legacy of music making.”  \nThe concert will be followed by a reception. Hancock Church is located at 1912 Massachusetts Ave\, on the Battle Green in Lexington (MA) center. There is parking in the rear of the church\, and an elevator is accessible via the Massachusetts Ave entrance.

Dr. Benjamin Remillard will discuss the role of New England’s people of color in the Revolution\, what drew them to the Patriot or Loyalist causes\, as well as what life was like for them and their communities after the war as the new nation struggled to find its footing. \nBenjamin Remillard is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of History and Classics at Providence College. He recently received his Ph.D. in History from the University of New Hampshire\, and his current book project\, Friends\, Brothers\, and Citizens: The Revolutionary War Veterans of Color Who Shaped the Early Republic\, explores the lives of the Revolution’s veterans and non-veteran Patriots of color who lived across the Northeast during the early American republic.

SUMMARY:Lexington 5th Grade Track & Field Meet
DESCRIPTION:The 5th Grade Track & Field Meet is a tradition in Lexington that brings together kids from all the town’s elementary schools to compete in a fun\, pressure-free environment. The meet stretches back to at least the 1960s. Back then\, during the junior high era\, the meet featured 6th graders as they were the oldest elementary school class. The tradition eventually evolved to feature 5th graders and continued until 2017. \nIn 2025\, the Boosters of Lexington Track-XC\, in partnership with the LHS Athletic Department\, and the Diamond and Clarke Middle School XC / Track & Field teams revived this great community event. \nThe 2026 edition of the meet will be held on Wednesday\, June 10th at 4:00 pm. A 10-minute Q&A will follow the talk\, where participants can ask questions about both the talk and broader science topics. \n\nBridging Mind: Science Talks for Everyone is a community event series that makes science\, society\, and human experience accessible to all through engaging public discussions. \n\n\n\nBridging Minds: Science Talks for Everyone is a new series of talks designed to make science accessible\, engaging\, and meaningful to a broad audience. The series hopes to demystify current topics in science and highlight their relevance to our everyday lives by providing a platform where complex scientific ideas can be shared in simple\, relatable\, and inspiring ways. \nEstablished by Arlington-based poet and former Harvard scientist Dr. Parmit Singh\, Bridging Minds will invite scientists\, innovators\, and thought leaders to engage directly with the community. Unlike traditional poetry readings\, this initiative encourages both poets and non-poets to engage with poetry beyond their own experiences\, fostering a deeper appreciation of different literary traditions. By bringing together voices from around the world\, the event highlights the power of poetry as a bridge between cultures. \nParticipants select a poem—whether from a well-known poet or a lesser-known voice—and present it in its original language\, followed by a discussion or translation to make it accessible to a wider audience. This format not only promotes linguistic diversity but also allows attendees to explore the historical\, social\, and emotional contexts of various poetic works. SUMMARY:Peter Mulvey and Jenna Nicholls Present: Floyd Mercantile
DESCRIPTION:In April 2025\, Peter Mulvey and Jenna Nicholls\, along with guitarist Ross Bellenoit\, traveled to Floyd\, a small mountain town located in the Blue Ridge Highlands of Southwest Virginia\, for five uninterrupted days of recording. What emerged is Floyd Mercantile — a record that feels both intimate and timeless. \nThe makeshift studio was a decommissioned general store called (you guessed it!) Floyd Mercantile — a weathered wooden building standing across the road from an open pasture where cows wandered and grazed in the gentle early spring. (One cow even volunteered to be on the album cover.) Inside those old walls\, the trio recorded the album live — no isolation booths\, no heavy overdubbing — just three musicians in a room\, listening closely and letting the songs unfold in real time. \nThe sessions were recorded by Jeff Oehler and filmed in their entirety by partner Sue Bibeau and their associate Skylar Locke. Together\, Sue and Jeff comprise Beehive Pro\, an audio\, visual\, and design collective famed for their intimate recordings and thoughtfully considered visuals. They captured not just the sound\, but the atmosphere — the wood floors\, the daylight through the dusty windows\, and the creak of the porch boards could all be considered session players on this album. \nThe repertoire bridges eras. Mostly comprised of songs Peter and Jenna wrote separately\, there are a few gems from the Great American Songbook: “Skylark” (Hoagy Carmichael/Johnny Mercer)\, “Them There Eyes” (Maceo Pinkard/Doris Tauber/William Tracey)\, and “I’ll Be Seeing You” (Sammy Fain/Irving Kahal). \nThe visual and sonic tones of the project reflect the periods these songs evoke — even the newly composed tracks feel in conversation with another time. The goal was not nostalgia\, but continuity: to stand inside the lineage of American song and add something honest and present to it. \nFloyd Mercantile is not just an album. It’s a document of place. Of three musicians in a room. Of songs — old and new — allowed to breathe in the quiet of a Virginia afternoon.
