SUMMARY:Winter Coat Drive
DESCRIPTION:Coat Boston\, a Lexington-based nonprofit program providing new winter coats and accessories to Boston families in need\, will hold its annual coat drive from September 15 through November 8\, 2026. \nWorking in partnership with Boston Public Schools and Boston social service organizations\, Coat Boston distributes new winter coats\, hats\, and mittens to children and adults in underserved communities. The program operates from space provided by Hancock Church in Lexington. \nLast year\, Coat Boston distributed 2\,700 new coats and winter accessories. This year\, the organization hopes to collect 3\,000 coats as families face increasing economic challenges and the need for winter clothing continues to grow. \nCoat Boston was established in 2009 by City Mission Society of Boston and moved to Lexington four years ago after City Mission permanently closed. The program has continued its mission with the support of volunteers\, donors and community partners. \nCommunity members can help by donating new coats and winter accessories through November 8. Donations may be dropped off at Coat Boston\, 1912 Massachusetts Avenue\, Lexington. Information about the coat drive\, additional ways to donate and Coat Boston’s work is available at coatboston.org

DESCRIPTION:Join Ploy’s Kitchen for an evening of Korean cooking. \n\n\n\n\nOne of the most healthful Asian cuisines\, delicious Korean cuisine features mainly vegetables and harmonised sauces. In this class\, you will learn to make delicious chicken bibimbap\, a rice bowl with chicken\, seasoned spinach\, cucumber salad\, kimchi\, egg\, and delicious kimbap sauce. We’ll also make Korean Japchae\, sweet potato noodles stir-fried with vegetables. We’ll finish the class with delicious poached pears with ginger. \nClass Menu: \n\nChicken Bibimbap\nKorean Japchae\nPoached Pears with ginger\n\nAbout Ploy’s Kitchen: \nPloy Khunisorn is a native of Thailand with a passion for culinary education\, global cuisine\, and food culture. She began her culinary journey at Suan Dusit International Culinary School while working as a financial analyst in Bangkok. After moving to the United States\, she earned a Master of Liberal Arts in Sustainability from Harvard University\, a Master of Education from Cambridge College\, and a Master of Arts in Gastronomy from Boston University. \nPloy has been teaching cooking and baking since 2014 and\, over more than 12 years of teaching experience\, has taught more than 15\,000 students. Her extensive travels to more than 60 countries have shaped her culinary perspective and deepened her knowledge of cuisines and food traditions from around the world. \nHer additional culinary training includes a Certificate in Plant-Based Patisserie from Le Cordon Bleu\, and she is also a certified Tea Master. Through her teaching\, Ploy brings together culinary technique\, cultural knowledge\, and global experience to help students explore food as both a craft and a reflection of culture. \nThis class is BYOB – feel free to bring your favorite beer or bottle of wine\, especially if it would pair well with any of the dishes. \nPlease note: if for any reason a class needs to be cancelled\, we will do our best to reschedule the event to another date. Refunds will be given to those unable to make the new date\, and refunds will be given if a class is cancelled with no new date.
