SUMMARY:Bridging Minds: Science Talks for Everyone
DESCRIPTION:The first talk in the Bridging Minds series will take place on Saturday\, June 13\, at 1:30 pm at Fox Branch Library in East Arlington. Speaker Theonie Anastassiadis will discuss The Secret Language of Life—and How We’re Learning to Speak It\, describing how scientists are learning to reprogram the cellular machinery that builds our bodies and to explore the viral world for new therapies. A 10-minute Q&A will follow the talk\, where participants can ask questions about both the talk and broader science topics. \n\nBridging Mind: Science Talks for Everyone is a community event series that makes science\, society\, and human experience accessible to all through engaging public discussions. \n\n\n\nBridging Minds: Science Talks for Everyone is a new series of talks designed to make science accessible\, engaging\, and meaningful to a broad audience. The series hopes to demystify current topics in science and highlight their relevance to our everyday lives by providing a platform where complex scientific ideas can be shared in simple\, relatable\, and inspiring ways. \nEstablished by Arlington-based poet and former Harvard scientist Dr. Parmit Singh\, Bridging Minds will invite scientists\, innovators\, and thought leaders to engage directly with the community. Singh hopes the outcome will be an ongoing dialog about science\, inspiring individuals of all ages to engage with scientific concepts and encouraging the next generation to pursue careers in science.

SUMMARY:Global Voices in Verse
DESCRIPTION:Monthly poetry event where participants read poems by other poets\, celebrating diverse voices and cultures while welcoming even non-poets to share their heritage. We are honored to have Arlington Poet Laureate Teresa Cader as our chief guest. \n\n\nGlobal Voices in Verse is a monthly poetry gathering that celebrates the richness of global poetic traditions. This event provides a platform for cultural exchange through poetry\, inviting participants to read and share poems by poets from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Unlike traditional poetry readings\, this initiative encourages both poets and non-poets to engage with poetry beyond their own experiences\, fostering a deeper appreciation of different literary traditions. By bringing together voices from around the world\, the event highlights the power of poetry as a bridge between cultures. \nParticipants select a poem—whether from a well-known poet or a lesser-known voice—and present it in its original language\, followed by a discussion or translation to make it accessible to a wider audience. This format not only promotes linguistic diversity but also allows attendees to explore the historical\, social\, and emotional contexts of various poetic works. By engaging with poetry in this way\, Global Voices in Verse cultivates a welcoming space where literature becomes a shared experience\, inspiring cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.
