DESCRIPTION:Join us for a national transcribe-a-thon celebrating Black History Month and Frederick Douglass’ Birthday! Learn to transcribe primary research materials to help make them more accessible–no prior experience necessary. Local historians will speak on the Colored Conventions\, which are the focus of this year’s program; how primary research materials have provided insight into the history of Black people in Lexington; Mary Elizabeth Miles and other Black women featured on the “Something Is Being Done” Monument; and the history of the masonic lodge building and its connection to Frederick Douglass. We’ll round out the program with cake\, music\, and a chance to win a copy of the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass and more!
