SUMMARY:"Families Embracing Anti-Bias Values" | CCL Parenting Workshop Series
DESCRIPTION:Join the Children’s Center of Lexington in partnership with the Hancock United Church of Christ for a film screening event where we will be showcasing Families Embracing Anti-Bias Values\, produced by Debbie LeeKeenan and John Nimmo\, and directed by Filiz Efe McKinney. This is a great opportunity for Lexington families to come together\, learn\, and discuss important topics in a welcoming environment. The event will be held at 1912 Massachusetts Ave\, so mark your calendars and bring your loved ones along! \nAbout the Film: \n“Families Embracing Anti-Bias Values is a 50-minute documentary about families who intentionally parent with an anti-bias lens\, exploring their hopes\, fears\, strengths\, challenges\, and the pivotal question: What kind of world do we want to create with our children? The film depicts these families in their everyday experiences at home\, in their communities\, and in their schools. Each family has their own vision for social justice based on their unique identities\, histories\, experiences\, and context. They help their children develop positive social identities\, express comfort and joy with human differences\, and form deep\, caring connections.”

SUMMARY:Lexington Field & Garden Club presents “Preparing the Soil for Gardening” with Gretel Anspach
DESCRIPTION:Lexington Field & Garden Club presents \n“Preparing the Soil for Gardening” with Gretel Anspach \nGretel Anspach is a Trustee of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society\, a Lifetime Master Gardner\, and a recently retired systems engineer for Raytheon. She established and maintained a 20\,000-square-foot food production garden that provides produce to the Marlboro and Maynard Food Pantries. Her primary interest and focus is the science behind horticulture. \nGretel will discuss how the soil’s quality and makeup greatly influence how well plants will do. Unlike sunlight\, air\, and water (the other three requirements)\, soil quality cannot be determined by simply looking or even by looking at the plants. She will cover structure\, compaction fertility\, and pH\, and talk about how these qualities can be modified to create a more successful garden. \nThis event is Free!  \n6:30 PM Refreshments\, 7 PM meeting \nStreet parking is available along Mass Ave and Follen Rd. Carpooling might be advisable. \nhttp://lexgarden.org
